The term Trabocchetto was selected for its historical importance to the Abruzzi’s fishing tradition. According to local historians, the Trabocco (or Trabucco) was a fishing innovation imported from the Middle East with literature references dating back to the 18th century. These ancient fishing machines were quickly adopted throughout the Adriatic Coast.

In this case, the decision not to link the name to the Abruzzi region was clear right from the start. The name “Kudos” was selected in order to transmit the message that our best parcel of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Merlot are blended together to produce our pinnacle wine. We wanted a non-Italian name to clearly communicate that there was a non-traditional varietal in the blend.

As testified by archaeological remains found in the historic hilltop town of Loreto Aprutino, Central Italy, Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been produced locally for thousands of years. At 300 meters above sea level the native Dritta and Leccino varieties and the unique microclimate influenced by the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso produce the finest extra-virgin olive oil.
